Perrin Motorsports Turning the Page

(Coopersville, Michigan – Perrin Motorsports PR) – After a season of wins, awards, and success the Perrin Motorsports Team would like to announce the sale of their current monster truck racing operation and a much needed hiatus from racing.

Perrin Motorsports’ roots began in the Michigan mud in the mid 1980’s when founder Jeff Perrin began competing in local mud bogs with his brother, Jim. The two campaigned a red 1950 Chevy pickup called the Bush Hog. After some fun in the mud Bush Hog naturally transformed to a monster truck with full 66” tires in 1986 and began car crushing. Back in the early days, Bush Hog was pulled from show to show with a school bus hauler and an open trailer.

Jeff and Jocelyn Perrin have been thrilling crowds for nearly 25 years.

Now after dazzling millions of fans and touring the states performing to sold-out houses, the Perrin Family is looking forward to some much needed relaxation after 24 years of racing. The husband and wife team was always a force to be known, from the early days and the beginning of Jocelyn’s career in the Bush Hog to winning the prized Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam Team of the Year award in March of 2012. Even after thousands of miles and countless hours of travel up and down the road, one thing never changed, the Perrin’s pure love for the sport of monster truck racing.

Perrin Motorsports has always fielded some of the most eye catching trucks in the industry.

It is no doubt that Jocelyn took the spotlight in recent years driving “Slick Willy”, “Lil’ Miss Dangerous”, and most recently, “High Maintenance” but it wasn’t without the endless hours in the shop and the 110% effort behind the scenes given by her husband, Jeff. Anyone who spent time in the pits at any show the Perrins were performing at could tell you about the the smile he had on his face watching the truck fly though the air or watch Jocelyn interacting with her fans.

The Perrins now look forward to having more time for what’s most important – family.

The much needed home time comes highly anticipated by the Perrin’s daughters, Cassie and Natalie who are looking forward to some fun vacations that don’t involve a monster truck show and even some new pets in the future. Both Cassie and Natalie grew up as “monster truck kids” on the road and behind the scenes with the trucks. Many fans might remember the girls riding their quads on the track before the events in the summer.

Perrin Motorsports’ career highlights include winning 3 back-to-back Monster Nationals Freestyle Championships, 2009 MTRA Truck of the Year, 2008 MTRA Sportsman Award, and 2012 Monster Jam Team of the Year. Having started driving in 1990, Jocelyn retires as the most top ranked independent female drivers in the industry.

Saying goodbye is always difficult.

Their career is dedicated to all of the friends, family, fans, and sponsors who kept the team going throughout the years of racing and in memory of those loved ones who were lost on the journey.

“We will miss the sport but look forward to seeing what this new page has to offer.”

Be on the lookout for a special career highlight video coming in December at www.PerrinMotorsports.com.

BIGFOOT’s Jim Kramer Leads 2012 Hall of Fame Class

(Hazelwood, MO – Team BIGFOOT PR) – Legendary BIGFOOT driver Jim Kramer, one of the most successful and pioneering drivers in the history of monster trucks, led the 2012 class of inductees into the International Monster Truck Museum Hall of Fame this past weekend in Auburn, Indiana.

Kramer, who now joins longtime-friend and BIGFOOT creator Bob Chandler in the Hall of Fame, was the only member of the 2012 class to receive the virtual unanimous thumbs-up for induction from the voting committee, not to mention the overwhelming support for his induction from the industry and its fans on the whole.

Jim Kramer received the most votes of any nominee in the 2012 IMTM Hall of Fame Class.

With 2012 being Kramer’s 30th anniversary with the BIGFOOT team, nearly half of which was spent in the spotlight as one of the team’s most successful drivers, it is fitting that a man who has contributed so much to both his team and industry should find himself inducted into the Hall of Fame in only its second year of operation.

Kramer began his career with BIGFOOT during the mid 1970’s, when he helped Chandler create the parent company that would eventually give birth to the BIGFOOT fleet of trucks, Midwest Four Wheel Drive & Performance Center in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, MO. After selling his stake in the company and taking a hiatus from the 4-wheel drive industry for a few years, Kramer returned at the beginning of the 1980’s to help Chandler campaign his growing fleet of BIGFOOT trucks, which were beginning to gain traction in the public eye.

The popularity of BIGFOOT soared in the 1980’s, largely in part due to Kramer’s aggressive driving style and charismatic on-camera personality that left the competition both frustrated, and admiring. In 1985, Kramer won the first-ever side-by-side monster truck racing event at the New Orleans Superdome, thus setting in motion the wheels that would carry the monster truck industry from a side-show halftime act at tractor pulls into a full-fledged legitimate motorsport.

Not only was Kramer at the tip of the spear as the team’s lead driver for most of the 80’s, but he also was the team’s point man for bringing up new talent through the ranks, a job that he still maintains to this day. Kramer also was and still is a huge proponent of monster truck safety, and his notable contributions include assisting in the development and testing of BIGFOOT #8 in 1989, which set a new standard for both driver and fan safety at the time of its debut.

“I’m extremely honored to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, alongside some of this sport’s truly great personalities,” said Kramer in a post-ceremony interview. “It truly humbles me to receive this recognition not just from the fans, who thank goodness have always stood by me, but from my peers and associates as well. I can’t say ‘thank you’ enough to everyone.”

Jim Kramer delivers his acceptance speech at the 2nd Annual IMTM Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

After accepting his award in the midst of a standing ovation, Kramer, who is well-known for his smooth delivery and collected demeanor when speaking in public, was notably moved during his acceptance speech. In fact, his voice could even be heard cracking a couple of times as he described the sacrifices that 30 years of racing has demanded from him, including time away from his family while campaigning BIGFOOT full-time in the 80’s.

“Jim is a great friend, a great competitor, and all of us at BIGFOOT are very proud of him, and very happy to see him enter the Hall of Fame after contributing so much to this sport,” said BIGFOOT creator Bob Chandler. “I’m extremely happy for him, he truly deserves this; he’s definitely earned it.”

With the 2012 Hall of Fame weekend having drawn to a close, Kramer will now shift his focus forward towards the 2013 season, which now stands less than two months away.

“We’ve got a lot of work to get done before we head out on the road and start racing again in January,” said Kramer. “We’ll be fielding at least one new race truck during the first quarter of 2013, possibly even two. And that’s not to mention BIGFOOT #20, the world’s first electric monster truck, we’ll likely be doing some stuff with that as well, seeing as how popular the truck was at the SEMA show during its public unveiling.”

“Who knows,” added Kramer, a wry smile crossing his face. “I might just suit up one more time and see what that electric truck’s got.”

BIGFOOT Heads Down Under In 2013

(Mooloolah Queensland – MTPA PR) – Over 30 years ago, a man named Bob Chandler modified his brand new F-250 to promote his 4×4 business. As the parts bills increased, the truck grew bigger and bigger and became the World’s First Monster Truck. Now, after over 3 decades of thrilling millions of fans around the World, acquiring numerous Guinness World Records, and debuting 20 different BIGFOOT® monster trucks, a brand new BIGFOOT is set to be unleashed in Australia. And it is guaranteed to thrill a whole new audience of monster fans around Australia and New Zealand.

An all new BIGFOOT truck is coming to Australia!

That’s right! An all new BIGFOOT truck will be based on QLD’s Sunshine Coast, under the control of Clive Featherby and the Monster Truck Promotions Australia crew, and will be seen extensively around Australia and New Zealand. BIGFOOT is the true legend of Monster Trucks, and its pending arrival down under is by far the biggest and most exciting news ever for monster truck fans in Australia.

BIGFOOT will make its Debut in March 2013 in Brisbane and will be driven by one of USA’s current superstar drivers. The Australian BIGFOOT will sport the new style BIGFOOT off-road body, as seen on Bigfoot #18, in a custom new colour scheme, making this one of the best looking monsters ever seen.

BIGFOOT’s first Australian challenge will be a car crushing, car jumping contest against the Aussie champion “Outback Thunda” in an all out contest for the Australian car jumping record.

Lucas Oil Monster Truck Nationals Presents Monsters & Magic for 2013

(Indianapolis, Indiana – Family Events PR) – Monsters & Magic will team up for the Winter and Spring – 2013 tour of the Lucas Oil Monster Truck Nationals. Eight Midwestern cities will host the Lucas Oil Monster Truck Nationals where the roar of over 40,000 pounds of rumbling, jumping, car-crushing monster trucks will come to life.

New to the series for 2013 is the addition of a magical theme highlighted by “The Great Escape”, a spectacular mid-air escape in the spirit of Houdini. Returning to the tour are Team Kid KJ and the young stars of the world’s youngest monster truck team. These young daredevils were a crowd favorite for kids and adults alike in their 2012 appearances. At each stop on the tour, attendees will have a chance to see the monster trucks up-close and meet the drivers for photos and autographs at a special pit party before each performance.

The Monster Nationals tour is shifting gears for 2013 – Hall Brothers Racing is back and an all new side act featuring magic will be featured.

Monster trucks featured on the “Monsters & Magic Tour” of the Lucas Oil Monster Truck Nationals in 2013 will include:

Raminator – The Hemi-powered dominating machine from Hall Brothers Racing.
Lucas Oil Stabilizer – The wild and unpredictable freestyle champ is back.
Star Marshal – From out of the old west to outer space and back…a good truck with a bad attitude.
Chalkboard Chuck – The one-of-a-kind truck that invites kids to sign their names right on the side.
Ironman – A tribute to the men and women of the armed forces

Other trucks may join the show at selected venues.

Hall Brothers Racing’s Raminator has won multiple Monster Nationals titles in the past, the big question is, who will pilot the big RAM on the tour?

Electric Powered Odyssey® Battery BIGFOOT #20 to Debut at SEMA

(Reading, Pennsylvania – Odyssey Battery PR) – EnerSys® will debut the ODYSSEY® Battery BIGFOOT #20 Monster Truck, the world’s first electric monster truck manufactured by BIGFOOT 4×4, Inc., at the SEMA Show at 2 p.m. PDT on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at ODYSSEY® battery Booth 24967 in Central Hall. The SEMA Show will run from Oct. 30 through Nov. 2, 2012 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

ODYSSEY® batteries by EnerSys, a primary sponsor of the 2012 BIGFOOT 4×4, Inc. monster truck team, provided 36 ODYSSEY® PC1200 batteries to power the ODYSSEY® Battery BIGFOOT No. 20 Monster Truck. The new truck will be under a tarp at the ODYSSEY® battery booth until its unveiling on Tuesday.

Odyssey Battery and BIGFOOT are teaming up to bring you the first electric powered monster truck!

The ODYSSEY® Battery BIGFOOT® No. 20 Monster Truck carries a custom-designed 2012 fiberglass body and includes a battery-powered electric motor, which was designed and built by Dennis Berube of Phoenix to wield high-horsepower and high-RPM capabilities. Three banks of 10 ODYSSEY® batteries will power the engine for a total of 360 Volts. The additional six ODYSSEY® batteries will power the brakes and steering systems. Other custom features include onboard battery chargers and variable-speed programmable speed controller.

Each of the 36 ODYSSEY® PC1200 batteries that power the ODYSSEY® Battery BIGFOOT® No. 20 Monster Truck weighs 38.2 pounds, but provides 1,200 five-second pulse hot cranking amps (PHCA), as well as 540 cold-cranking amps (CCA), 78 minutes of reserve capacity and 400 cycles of deep cycle capability at 80 percent depth of discharge (DOD).

“We’ve been sponsoring BIGFOOT® monster trucks for almost 10 years,” said Dave McMullen, director of commercial marketing for specialty and UPS markets at EnerSys®. “The punishing conditions of a monster truck race are a perfect demonstration of ODYSSEY® batteries at their rugged best. We are particularly excited to be part of the world’s first battery-powered monster truck, and are proud of BIGFOOT 4X4, Inc.’s confidence in our batteries that they play such a crucial role in the truck’s performance.”

“ODYSSEY® batteries have helped our team to win more than 20 monster truck championships,” said Jim Kramer, vice president of research, technology and driver development of BIGFOOT 4X4, Inc. “We’re happy to have ODYSSEY® batteries as a partner in the development of the ODYSSEY® Battery BIGFOOT No. 20 Monster Truck. Developing a custom electric monster truck is part of our efforts to keep up with ever-changing technology. For now, the ODYSSEY® Battery BIGFOOT® No. 20 Monster Truck will be used in static displays and parades, but as we become more experienced with the electric power unit, battery maintenance, controller adjustments, drive lines and weather, our fans may just see it perform car crushes or even compete in monster truck shows.”
