Team BIGFOOT & Firestone Will Debut New Look at Indy 500
(Hazelwood, MO – BIGFOOT 4×4 PR) – Team BIGFOOT will debut an all-new paint scheme in Indianapolis this week in celebration of Firestone’s 100 Years of Racing. The truck will stand as one of the focal points of Firestone’s corporate exhibit in the garage area of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which will be open for viewing May 9th through the 31st. This all-new paint job features plenty of red, white, and blue as well as a checkered flag motif and custom Firestone graphics that pay homage to both Firestone and BIGFOOT’s legendary racing history.
“We’re thrilled to present BIGFOOT to all of the great racing fans from around the world who will be in Indianapolis to enjoy the Indy 500 and all of the surrounding activities,” said BIGFOOT Vice President Bob Trent. “Firestone has taken BIGFOOT to some awesome places over the years, and Indy is certainly one of our favorites.”
He went on to add that “BIGFOOT will also be bringing all of its fine sponsors to Indy as well. In some forms of racing, special paint jobs don’t always incorporate all of a team’s sponsors. That is definitely not the case with our Firestone 100 Years of Racing BIGFOOT. Our entire logo and decal placement is consistent with that found on our touring fleet of competition and display BIGFOOT trucks. This is just one of the many ways for us to say ‘thank you’ to the fine companies that help keep us atop the industry.”
The Firestone 100 Years of Racing BIGFOOT paint scheme will appear in Indianapolis atop the team’s BIGFOOT #8 chassis, which to this day stands as one of the most successful and vital monster trucks of all time.
“BIGFOOT #8 has one of the richest racing histories in our fleet of trucks,” said Trent. “We felt that it would be fitting to represent our team, our industry, and all of our sponsors with one of the most important trucks in history. We hope to see everyone there!”

The Allen Report: NAPA Monster Truck Nationals – Chandler, AZ 2011
(Coverage By Christopher Allen, Photos By Jim Allen)
Six of the top monster trucks in the world arrived at Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, Arizona for the annual NAPA Monster Truck Nationals and Night of Fire, held on Saturday, April 30th and Sunday, May 1st, 2011. Participants included current Monster Jam World Finals Freestyle Champion Jim Koehler in Avenger, with last year’s Firebird runner-up Chris Bergeron in Brutus right behind him. Darren Migues would be filling in for perennial Firebird Champ Jimmy Creten in Bounty Hunter, Dan Runte would be back in Summit Bigfoot 16 and Travis and Ronnie Sturges would be piloting Unnamed & Untamed and Nasty Boy from just down the road in Tucson. Nasty Boy was even sporting the great looking TMB flag for the weekend’s events. The grand finale would be the return of the 40-foot tall, 60,000 pound car-eating, fire-breathing monstrosity Robosaurus.
Opening each show was a wheelie and donut competition with the brothers Sturges giving wheelies that set the stage for what was to come. Brutus not only surprised the Firebird fans with a 45 degree angle wheelie attempt, but gave cyclones that had yours truly thinking back to Wrecking Crew at the 2010 Monster Jam World Finals encore. Even better, Chris put the wreck from last year behind him with a perfect score of 30, followed it up with an outstanding freestyle, taking the Saturday night championship.
Sunday saw the encore performance for the fans that could not make it the first night. At one of his favorite places to perform, Dan and Bigfoot got the crowd pumped up with his shots at the wheelie and donut win. But it was déjà vu for Chris Bergeron, who found himself tied with Bounty Hunter with just freestyle left to go for the weekend. The judging was close, but Darren kept the Bounty Hunter Firebird legacy alive with a score tallied over wheelies and donuts combined with his freestyle number to oust Brutus for the second year in a row.
To close each show, Shawn Pacheco and Robosaurus fascinated the kids in the crowd by eating, breaking and burning a junk car or, in the case of the big show on Saturday, no less than three. In addition, Sam Sturges gave rides to fans young and old in his team’s “Boogie Monster” ride truck. Will Team Scream ever be able to defeat Bounty Hunter at Firebird? Find out next year. Until then, thank you for reading, thanks to everyone with Firebird Raceway for their hospitality, enjoy Jim’s great photos and cheer on!

Rick Long & Bobby Holman 2011 Monster Nationals Champions
The 2011 E3 Spark Plugs Monster Nationals Presented By Lucas Oil series is now complete following this weekend’s competition in Erie, Pennsylvania and this year’s champions are none other than Rick Long and Bobby Holman. The tour ran four long months and from the start in Huntington, West Virginia to the major stadium event in Glendale, Arizona, all the way through the finale in Erie, Pennsylvania, the tour was the Rick and Bobby show.
For Rick, the championship is his second in as many years as Team BIGFOOT has made their triumphant return to the Monster Nationals series. The performance this year from Long was purely dominant as he took the championship by an incredible 600 points over 2nd place Bobby Holman and the Lucas Oil Stabilizer.
Official Racing Standings
1) Rick Long, E3 Spark Plugs Bigfoot #15 – 2,125 points
2) Bobby Holman, Lucas Oil Stabilizer – 1,525 points
3) Dave Radzierez, Star Marshall – 750 points
“It feels really good to win the championship again,” said Long. “We raced a lot of tough trucks this year from Bobby and the Stabilizer to Dave, who really came on strong in Star Marshal, so it’s a real accomplishment to beat some of the best in the business.”
As dominant as Rick Long was in racing, Bobby Holman was similarly dominant in freestyle, picking up an impressive 13 wins in the Lucas Oil Stabilizer. This year’s Freestyle Championship is the fourth title of Holman’s career, as he and Dan Runte and the only three-time champions of the CFP Monster Truck Winter Nationals series.
Official Freestyle Standings
1) Bobby Holman, Lucas Oil Stabilizer – 13 wins
2) Rick Long, E3 Spark Plugs Bigfoot #15 – 6 wins
3) Derrick Anson, Heavy Hitter – 4 wins
“We are the champions and it feels great,” exclaimed Holman. “This year was tough competition as Rick and Bigfoot and Dave and Star Marshall were great all season. We couldn’t have done it without our friends at Lucas Oil, so a big thanks to them for their support.”
Now promoter Family Events moves outdoors with its 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals events and that means there is another championship to be won. The 2011 Monster Truck Thunder Drags title will be on the line as the series makes stops in Springfield, Missouri; Lima, Ohio; Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania; and Indianapolis, Indiana.
The big question will be, can anyone stop Mark Hall and the Raminator? Hall has won the title the last four years straight, but 10 other drivers including Dan Runte, Bobby Holman, Jim Koehler and more will look to try and take him down. Incredibly, going into Springfield, Hall has yet to win a single racing competition in 2011 so maybe this is the year.
For more information on the upcoming 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals events, visit www.FamilyEvents.com. A big congratulations from all of us at TMB to Rick Long and Bobby Holman on the championships!
